Us & Them Mixtape

5 films | 46 min

The American political landscape is a disaster zone, where conversations about even seemingly noncontroversial subjects—say, whether we think it’s OK to assassinate journalists or not—are freighted with bad faith. Is it really still possible to meet in the middle? In this month’s Mixtape, a selection of short films explores difference and division. Some are optimistic, such as the stories of a basketball-loving new immigrant, a Canadian politician’s 1960 call-to-action, and the resilience of Syrians during their country’s ongoing war. But another film takes a darker view, with a reminder of what some Americans really thought before the country entered World War II.
