Phobias for the 21st Century
There is nothing to fear, the saying goes, but fear itself. With all due respect to FDR, we beg to differ. (Twitter wasn’t around during his lifetime!) Here is an illustrated list of true phobias that would be unrecognizable to previous generations but feel all too real today. From cell-phone-based fears (nomophobia, visiobibliophobia) to Goop-triggered neuroses (rhytiphobia) to a panic that seems especially pressing with the events of late September 2018 (dikephobia), there are numerous reasons to stay up, anxious, at night.
