Paul now has the film and wants to take it to the press. But Adams from P9 has a different plan and together and goes to the Prime Minister. The heads of Salamander arrive in Kitangi to attend the inauguration of Bombé as president. The Prime Minister refuses to take any action against Bombé, manages to take possession of the film and shows Paul the door. Paul is devastated when Sofie, too, abandons him. Will Paul find the strength to change the Prime Minister's mind and win back his daughter?
Salamander is hot on Jamie’s trail. Jamie decides to come clean and tell all. His love for Sofie is genuine. He wants to hand over the film to Paul Gerardi. The footage, showing General Bombé committing two murderers, could be hugely damaging, not only to Bombé, but to the Belgian government as well. Paul is suspicious and arranges to meet Sofie, but Salamander is eavesdropping on the conversation and follows them. Paul, Jamie and Sofie meet each other in Brussels, but Salamander intervenes.
Chief Inspector Paul Gerardi is called to investigate a murder in the Matonge district of Brussels. The victim is Léon Tchité, a political opponent of General Bombé, the leader of the rebels in the African state of Kitangi, a former Belgian colony. While fleeing, the murderer is involved in an accident. At the hospital, Paul Gerardi discovers that he turns out to be a member of Salamander. When the murderer comes out of his coma and is able to speak, Paul is called to the hospital.
